Radio K News Wins 11 Awards for 2008
Minneapolis, MN - Radio K's news department won a total of 11 awards in three different journalism competitions. The news department will receive the awards at the Midwest Journalism Conference from the Minnesota Associate Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists on March 27 and 28.
In the Northwest Broadcast News Association Eric Sevareid Awards Competition, Radio K won in the newscast, documentary/special, and spot news categories. In the Minnesota AP competition, Radio K received honorable mentions for sports and documentary. And from the Society of Professional Journalists, Radio K won six Mark of Excellence Awards, first and third place in radio news reporting, third place in radio feature, third place in radio in-depth reporting, and first and second place in radio sports reporting.
All award winning stories were aired on Radio K's news program, Minnesota Notebook, in 2008 and all reporters are students of the University of Minnesota. Radio K (KUOM 770 AM) is the student-run radio station of the University of Minnesota. www.radiok.org
