Even in the music section of this website, we’ve got some pretty awesome stories. During an interview a few months ago, Peter Ostroushko tells the story of hitchiking to St. Paul for a gig. During the long waits between rides, Peter wrote a poem to pass the time.

It went something like this:

Look at those hitchhikers
Freezing their buns
Standing on the highway
Sticking out their thumbs
Freezing off their noses
Down to their toes
Even secret places
Forbidden by Moses
How to be a hitchhiker
Don’t need a pass
Get out on the highway
Freeze off you’re a—

Keep in mind that the poem is so much richer when you hear it because Peter is reciting it live on the radio, without notes. At times, he can’t quite remember the words. It’s like having the great musician in your living room for a private performance.

The story and poem begin at about eight minutes into this “Live from Studio A” interview on KUMD in Duluth: http://bit.ly/bdOlut
