Pottery isn't always about pretty bowls. Or lovely vases.

Sometimes the work is in your face.

Which is why I can't wait to see the work of James Klueg in person. After listening to an interview with Klueg on our website, I checked out photos of his work online.

I found pictures of colorful vases eteched with aphorisms like "Weapons of Mass Seduction" and "I like going to faraway places without actually going there." To me, his work is reminicient of Barbara Kruger and Jenny Holzer, visual artists who mix type with technology. While Holzer uses bright LED screens, Klueg imprints his work on a form that too many people think isn't modern.

In the interview, Klueg tells a KAXE producer, "I'm a reader ... I like writing."

I believe it.
