Whitney Saurer doesn't like computers. Instead, the Duluth artist prefers to illustrate her creepy drawings — that's her adjective, by the way — using ink and watercolor.

"I like illustrating more than fine art," she says.

In an interview with KUMD's Radio Gallery, Saurer describes her art as "whimsical," and here's that word again, "creepy."

You can check out Saurer's work in a one-woman show this month at Washington Gallery, 315 North Lake Ave, Duluth. The name of the exhibit: "Corpses and Copses."

Which makes sense, given that Halloween is fast approaching and October is Saurer's favorite month.

"There's going to be dead things," she says. "There's going to shurbbery, which is what a 'copse' is. I thought it just worked and it was fun."
